A PERSON has come forward to police following a CCTV appeal to identify a potential witness in relation to an investigation into a fatal stabbing in Bournemouth town centre.
Dorset Police detectives are continuing to investigate the death of a 21-year-old man, who was stabbed outside Subway in Old Christchurch Road on Saturday, March 12.
He was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition, but he died a short time later.
His family are being supported by specially trained officers. HM Coroner has been notified.
A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody at this time.
As part of their ongoing enquiries, detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) issued a CCTV image of a person they were looking to identify as they believed him to be a potential witness who could assist with information.
Following the appeal, a male has now come forward and is assisting with the investigation.
Detective Inspector Simon Huxter, of the MCIT, said: “We would like to thank the individual who came forward and everyone who shared our appeal.
“This remains an ongoing investigation and I would continue to urge anyone who has information that might assist out enquiries to please get in touch.”
Cordons remain in place in the area of Horseshoe Common as the investigation continues.
