MOTORISTS have been warned to expect delays in Christchurch this week as council engineers complete long-awaited resurfacing works.
Stanpit is set to be closed from today, March 14, until Friday, March 18, between 8am and 6pm for the second phase of retread and recycling works.
The road will be closed from Purewell Cross roundabout to Coastguard Way, including the junctions with Mudeford Lane, Queen's Road, Victoria Road and Ledbury Road.
A diversion route will be in place via B3059 Somerford Road, Sandown Road, Mudeford Lane and Mudeford.
As reported, Stanpit is finally being resurfaced after "years" of frustrations for residents and ward councillors.
Cllr Lesley Dedman told the Daily Echo earlier this month the first phase of the work had seen the bottom layer resurfaced, which left the road with its "marzipan on".
The work this week follows on from this to provide the top surface.
