BOURNEMOUTH bus service Yellow Buses will be changing routes and services across the area to “reflect the current level of patronage”.

From Sunday April 3, Yellow Buses will adapt its network across the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole region. A spokesperson said this was a reflection of passenger numbers following the pandemic and a need to create a more sustainable level of service.

The core network of services, including routes on the Christchurch corridor, routes connecting Bournemouth, Boscombe, and Bearwood, and routes between Bournemouth and Wimborne remain largely unchanged.

Routes 18, 33 and 36, operated on behalf of BCP Council, will also remain unchanged, as will most school services operated by Yellow Buses and Yellow Coaches.

Key changes, however, include:

  • Route 1 extended to Poole Quay (Thistle Hotel) with an extra late evening service at 22:24 from the Quay to Christchurch from Monday to Friday.
  • Route 3x is rerouted to serve Charminster and Richmond Park Road
  • Route 4 is extended to Christchurch and Somerford
  • New route 727 will operate between Boscombe Bus Station to Aviation Business Park via Pokesdown, Southbourne, Christchurch (Bargates), Fairmile and Bournemouth Airport
  • Buster's Beach Bus open top service and Buster's New Forest Explorer will be reappearing for the summer with further information to be announced soon
  • Route 4a, 31 & School route 60 will be withdrawn, and route 21 will be withdrawn from July.

A Yellow Buses spokesperson said: “We have been working closely with council partners in planning these services. We continue to be part of the BSIP (bus service improvement plan) process and await details of further investment in public transport in this area by the government.”
