A QUIRKY clothing store by day and a vibrant music venue by night - No.11 is our trader of the week.
No.11 offers a unique selection of items, with every T-shirt, bag or necklace pre-loved, upcycled or handmade.
What makes No.11 even more special is that it transforms into a dynamic music venue and bar every Thursday evening.
The Boscombe-based store was opened in December last year by Lex Lee, 30, and Danny Peacock, 57, who wanted a platform to share their creativity.
Lex said that. “A lot of the things in here are bits that I have made, bought in other countries or bought from markets.
“There’s a story behind every item in here. I tell customers the story behind what they are buying.
“It’s really lovely to have that connection (with customers).”
As well as stocking their own preloved goods, the store also sells products from other local businesses.
Lex said: “My plan (for No.11) was for it to be an umbrella under which a lot of other sellers sit.
“It’s meant that a lot of different identities have been brought together under one roof.”
Lex and Danny have an evening alternative for the store which is just as impressive. Every Thursday, the pair transform the store into a music venue and host performances by local bands and singers.
Lex said: “It adds a whole new element to what we’re doing here. Not only are we promoting sustainable goods and sustainable sellers, but we are also promoting local live music and talent.”
Lex hopes No.11 will continue to create opportunities for the Boscombe area.
She said: “We’d ideally like to make it two nights a week for live music and then potentially hire out the space on other nights for things like band practice or yoga classes.
“I want it to be a place where you can do lots of things under the same roof and where people can come to express themselves.
“Boscombe is a hub of creativity. People just need a platform.”
You can find No.11 at 11 Sea Road, Boscombe, BH5 1DH. Opening times for the store are available on their Facebook or Instagram page.
