A VENUE which often played host to talented DJ Tom Roberts has paid tribute to him following his death at the weekend.
Tom suffered fatal injuries outside Subway in Old Christchurch Road on the morning of Saturday, March 12.
The 21-year-old was a popular face at Bomo Bunker, where he would often perform drum and bass DJ sets under the name ‘Nomad’.
He has been described as “one of the best up and coming artists the south had to offer”.
Manager of the Holdenhurst Road nightclub Shelley told the Daily Echo: “Tom was an amazing young talented lad with a bright future. I’m so saddened by what’s happened.
“Tom loved Bomo. I gave him his first opportunity there and he would come to practise when we were closed.
“He worked so hard to be the best he could be, wanting more and more opportunities.
“He helped me out whenever he could, just to be there, just to get any opportunity to get on those decks.
“He was a kind, funny, loving but very cheeky kid.
“He didn’t have a bad bone in his body at all. He was all about his music and his family and friends.”
Patti Roberts, Tom’s sister, paid tribute to him earlier this week.
She said her brother was a “strong, kind and funny person.
"We can't begin to comprehend what has happened to him,” said Patti.
“His future was going to be bright. He wanted to be a Marine. He was in a beautiful relationship with his girlfriend and they were supposed to be going on holiday this week.
"He had so many people in his life that loved him. And now he's gone.”
The police cordon around Horseshoe Common, where floral tributes have been placed, was lifted on Monday afternoon.
Providing an update on the evening of Tuesday, March 15, a Dorset Police spokesperson said a 16-year-old boy had been charged with murder and was due to appear at Poole Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, March 16.
Witnesses and anyone with CCTV footage relevant to the investigation should contact the force on 101, quoting reference 12:101.
