Pub of the Week: The World's End

Located on the main route into Dorset, The World's End is a 14th century pub that boasts talented chefs, delicious food and a friendly atmosphere.

The World's End was once the oldest pub in Dorset until a fire levelled it to the ground in 1991. It has since been rebuilt and has retained much of its original character.

Visitors to the pub can expect a relaxed experience and have the option of outdoor tables for stunning views or indoor seats to cosy up by the fire.

Manager Harry Evison said: “We are striving to be the best family pub, serving Dorset's finest food, drink and welcoming atmosphere."

The World's End was owned by Hall and Woodhouse until 2020, but the company decided not to renew their lease and pub was closed.

The building was unoccupied for over a year before being taken over by Bridport-based company Electric Pubs who re-opened The World's End last April.

Harry Evison said: “We have re-opened and resurrected it.”

Diners can choose from an extensive menu of delicious dishes, with options of vegetarian and vegan meals. Specials boards are also available daily.

Manager Harry Evison said: “We do all the classics but then we also do premium dishes.

"We try and change the menu every three to four months. We also try to source as much as we can locally. It’s an iconic pub in Dorset so we want to keep things local.”

The pub is particularly popular on a Sunday, with guests flooding in to enjoy their tasty roast dinners. Harry said: “Sunday is by far our busiest day.

“We do a vegetarian roast which is extremely popular. We also have a sharing roast for two people.”

The World's End has become a well-loved spot for both regulars and new faces.

Harry said: “Because of our location, we find people use us as a meeting space. Today, for example, we had someone from Brighton and someone from Devon come and meet here in the middle.

“We’ve got regulars who visit quite often too. It’s nice.”

The pub also has a children’s play park and is dog friendly, making it a perfect spot for the whole family.
