A MAN is taking on a mammoth challenge, as he looks to complete his fifth world record of the month.
Jacob Best has completed four world records so far in March, achieving the fastest cross-country run carrying a 40lb pack over the distances of 5km, 10km, half a marathon and a full marathon.
Now, he will attempt to break the world record for the furthest distance run with a 40lb pack over a 24-hour period this weekend. The current record currently stands at 114km.
Jacob is raising money for two charities close to his heart, one of which is a local special forces charity, SBS Association, based in Poole.
Having already beat his target to raise over £5,000, Jacob will be splitting the final funds raised between this charity and Rock2Recovery, a national armed forces charity.
He said: “To keep up with training and complete the world records, not just individually, but over consecutive weekends has been a real challenge. I am delighted by the amount of support I’ve received which has helped towards the funds raised for two charities very close to my heart.
“Ashdown Leisure Centre has been incredibly helpful in offering its athletics track for this final challenge, and I am confident I can beat the record. I hope the local community can come down on the day and cheer me on – I’ll definitely need the support.”
Everyone Active contract manager, Rob Slocombe said: “We are absolutely delighted to host this world record breaking attempt for Jacob. He has already achieved incredible results from his recent challenges, and we’re happy to support him during this final challenge.”
