Bournemouth’s famous Big Wheel is back.
Work is nearly complete on the 100ft tall wheel, which is scheduled to re-open on Friday, April 1.
Workmen and cranes have been seen hard at work re-assembling the ride which was taken down for the winter months.
Situated on the seafront opposite Bournemouth Pier, the attraction has been a favourite of the town thanks to the impressive views of the pier, beach, town and Lower Gardens from the top.
BCP Council’s Deputy Leader Philip Broadhead said: “It’s great to see the Big Wheel back in action. Over the last few years, it’s become a beacon on Bournemouth’s skyline – an iconic symbol that we’re ready and raring to go to welcome visitors.
“The recent amazing weather has highlighted what a great place we live in and what an amazing resort we have, welcoming millions of visitors each year to what is consistently voted as one of Europe’s best beaches.
“Couple this with our packed season-long agenda of events, and it’s easy to see why people keep returning in their droves.”
One resident said he was “excited” to get back on the wheel so he can take his son up there for the first time. He said: “I think my son will really enjoy it – I certainly do.”
Tickets will cost £6 for adults and £5 for children, students and senior citizens.
