BCP Council’s household recycling centres move to summer opening hours from Friday, April 1.
Millhams at Longham, Wilverley Road in Christchurch and Nuffield in Poole will be open from 9am to 5pm seven days a week.
The centres will be open for an hour extra each day.
As reported by the Daily Echo earlier this year, a new phone app was launched enabling residents to check how busy their local recycling centre is prior to their visit.
The BCP Tip Check app, which is available on both Apple and Android devices, has been developed by BCP Council.
It uses a traffic light system including live information about current queues to help residents avoid visiting when a centre is already busy.
People can also access information about opening hours and the services available at each site.
BCP Council worked with smart systems specialist, Xpertnest on the technology, which was created in response to help tackle road congestion in and around the council’s three main recycling centres.
Last year, more than 750,000 cars visited BCP Council’s three recycling centres with residents disposing of more than 40,000 tonnes of waste.
BCP Tip Check app is available on the App store and Google Play.
