THE COUNCIL has confirmed its events programme for 2022 - with large screens being put up in Bournemouth Gardens for the Queen’s Jubilee.
BCP Council will be hosting a large screen in the gardens showing television broadcasts from the BBC and Royal-related films as part of the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations in June.
The celebrations are part of a programme of events that have been confirmed for 2022.
These include the weekly motorcycle event Dream Machines on Poole Quay, which will start this month until September.
May will bring back a number of old and new events including Poole’s Mini Steam on the Quay event and a line-up of concerts at Upton Country Park including the 'Legends Night' Friday, 'Britpop Forever' Saturday and ‘Ultimate 80s’ Sunday.
A host of events will take place in June including the return of Poole Seafood Festival and Christchurch Food Festival, along with the popular sporting event Bournemouth 7s.
Speaking about the council’s plans for the Queen’s Jubilee, head of destination and events Jon Weaver said: “We will have a real mix of events across BCP over the summer, as well as some additional events for the Queen's Jubilee.
“On the Thursday (of the Jubilee event) we will be holding a beacon lighting event. Beacons will be lit in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole at the Jon Egging Trust, Christchurch Quay and Sandbanks.
“We are also finalising plans for firework displays at two of the sites and the large screens will be back in the gardens showing television broadcasts from the BBC and Queen-related films.”
In July, a number of popular events will make a comeback including Christchurch Music Festival, Sandpolo and Sandfest, Grooves on the Green and Poole Harbour Festival.
Quay for my Car, Stompin’ on the Quomps, Beach Fest and the BMX Championships will also return in August.
Events over the summer months will all be run alongside BCP Council’s Festival Coast Live programme, which takes place over six weeks during the summer holidays and is primarily delivered by local artists, community groups, music, theatre, dance, fitness and sports organisations.
September and October will make the most of the autumn season with Bournemouth Air Festival and the Arts by the Sea Festival.
