FIRE crews rushed to tackle a large blaze in the Woodlands area on Wednesday involving 20 tonnes of wood after a bonfire “got too big”.

At approximately 10.30pm on Wednesday, March 30, crews from Verwood and Ringwood were called to a field in Sutton and found a large log store in flames.

Due to the strengthening wind and the location, it was decided to fully extinguish the fire. A water carrier from Poole was also requested to supplement water supplies.
