A WOMAN on a walk with her husband was left with a puncture wound after a dog jumped up and bit her on the back.
The incident occurred at around 10.15am on Sunday February 27 on a footpath between Corfe Castle and Swanage. The victim, aged in her 60s, was walking with her husband when they were approached by a runner with a dog off the lead.
The dog jumped up and bit the victim on the back, causing a puncture wound.
The dog is described as a breed similar to a Ridgeback, but without the ridge and a larger head.
The man running with the dog is described as white, around 50 years old, five feet ten inches tall and with short sandy hair, clean shaven and with sticking out ears. He was wearing a bright blue running top and blue knee-length shorts.
Officers investigating the reported dog bite incident are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Police Constable Jennie Sykes-Martin, of Dorset Police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and I would appeal for anyone with information to please contact us.
“I am particularly keen to speak to a woman who was riding a horse nearby who may have witnessed what happened.”
