A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of a firearms offence following an incident which lasted nearly six hours yesterday in Bournemouth.
Dorset Police set up a cordon in Browning Avenue in Boscombe after receiving a report at 2.55pm on Tuesday, April 5 raising concern for the welfare of a woman at an address in the road.
Officers attended and it was reported the woman may be in possession of a firearm. There were no reports of any threats being made.
The road was closed between the junction with Christchurch Road and Beechwood Avenue and residents were unable to enter their homes during the incident.
Residents also reported seeing several armed police with riot gear at the scene.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “Officers engaged with the woman and a cordon was put in place as police responded to the incident. At around 8.30pm the incident concluded safely and the woman was arrested on suspicion of a firearms offence.”
