A MAN will have to pay more than £200 to the courts for not paying a rail fare.
Shawn Ian Ettery, 34, of Bournemouth Road, Poole, was proved to have not paid his £91 rail fare at Bristol Temple Meads on September 5, 2021.
Court papers state Ettery travelled on the Great Western Railway without paying the £91 fare with intent to avoid the fee.
He was not present at Bristol Magistrates’ Court for sentencing on Monday, April 4.
Magistrates fined him £220 for the offence and ordered him to pay compensation of £91.
He was also ordered to pay £34 victim surcharge and costs of £180.
It comes just months after the defendant didn’t pay a £43.80 train fare at Bristol Temple Meads.
For that offence he was fined £220, ordered to pay £34.80 compensation, costs of £180 and a victim surcharge of £34.
