A man suffered serious stab wounds following an incident in Boscombe on Thursday.
Police were called to Argyll Road around 10.36am following a report a man had sustained a stab wound.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "The victim has been taken to hospital by the ambulance service for treatment to his injury, which is described as serious.
"An investigation is underway and a cordon has been put in place to allow for an examination of the scene."
One police car and an ambulance remains at the scene.
A property was cordoned off.
In an unrelated incident, a man's body was found in a property on Argyll Road earlier in the day.
