A MAN has been handed a driving ban after he was reportedly uninsured and caught speeding at 50mph in a 30mph zone.
Daniel Phillips, 29 and of St Leonard’s Road, Bournemouth, was alleged to have committed the motoring offences in Petersfield Road, Bournemouth, on February 17 last year.
The case was dealt with under the single justice procedure at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on April 5.
A lone magistrate found the offences of speeding and using a motor vehicle, namely a Volvo car, were proved.
The defendant was not present at the closed-doors hearing when the magistrate issued fines totally £1,100 as well as an order to pay £110 costs and a £66 surcharge.
Phillips was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for six months. Court papers stated it was an obligatory ban due to “repeat offending”.
