THE A338 Wessex Way was closed for around four hours this morning while emergency services dealt with a concern for welfare.
Police were called to reports of a woman on a bridge on the Wessex Way at 3.11am on Monday.
Officers attended along with the fire and ambulance service.
The Wessex Way was closed along with Lansdowne Road during the incident.
The woman was brought to safety at around 7.15am.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “Dorset Police received a report at 3.11am on Monday 11 April 2022 raising concern for the welfare of a woman on a bridge on the A338 Wessex Way in Bournemouth.
“Officers attended with the fire and ambulance services and road closures were put in place while emergency services responded to the incident. The woman was brought to safety at around 7.15am and was taken to receive the appropriate the care."
The spokesperson added: “The road closures have been lifted and we would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place.”
