FIRE crews rushed to Bournemouth University after a blaze started during building works.
Seven crews attended the university site at Fern Barrow on Thursday afternoon.
A spokesperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to the Bournemouth University site at Fern Barrow, Poole at 2.17pm for a reported fire in a first floor room.
“Because of the size of the premises, we sent crews from Redhill Park, Westbourne, Springbourne, Poole, Christchurch and Ferndown, together with the aerial ladder platform from Westbourne.
“The fire, which started accidentally during building works, had been suppressed by on-site staff using a fire extinguisher before we arrived, so our stop was at 2.47pm and all but two crews have now left the scene.
“We used one hose reel jet to ensure the fire was fully extinguished, and firefighters are checking the area around where the fire started to make sure there’s no fire spread.
“Damage has been limited to around the window in the one room and there were no injuries.”
