Ward councillor for Boscombe East and Pokesdown, Andy Jones, said: "I've finally had a response from the Post Office regarding the issues related to the Boscombe Precinct branch that I raised with them a number of weeks ago.
"Unfortunately there are no immediate plans to reopen on a Friday and Saturday but they are working on a long term plan to increase the opening hours.
"No further details were given on this. In addition I have been assured that there is no intention to close this branch despite the understandable concerns of residents.

"Should any such closure be planned in the future this would be communicated locally through various channels including a public consultation. I have asked to be kept in the loop on this."
Boscombe East MP Tobias Ellwood, also wrote to the Post Office chief executive to ensure the branch stays open. He said: “Essentially it was to make sure that we didn't lose these vital services for important conurbations such as Boscombe.
“We’re seeing a gradual retreat of services across Bournemouth so I'm very keen to make sure that we turn this around and the post office as an asset to the community is actually built upon.
“In a day where so much is done online, people still want to have these community assets on our high street so I'm really pleased that we've got the right outcome.
“Obviously it's always going to be a balance, we’re going to push for the maximum but ultimately the post office has to watch the numbers themselves.
“It’s not the 100 per cent outcome we wanted but it's going in the right direction.
“It shows that when the council and others do make an objective and constructive case we can be listened to.
“I would encourage residents and businesses to utilise the post office the best they can because it justifies keeping these key facilities open which is so important when we see such change taking place on our high streets at the moment.”
Previously, the Post Office in the Royal Arcade in Boscombe had been closed on Fridays and Saturdays for several weeks and had recently started closing on Mondays too, according to residents.
The Post Office said this was due to temporary staffing issues.
The branch continued to be closed frequently, prompting Councillor Jones and MP Tobias Ellwood to write to officials at the company.
