FISHERMEN were reported for licensing offences during police patrols in Poole.
The neighbourhood policing team patrolled waterways in Poole with fisheries enforcement colleagues from the Environment Agency.
The closed season for coarse finishing started last month.
A spokesperson for Poole Police: “The closed season for coarse fishing is well underway from March 15 to June 15 inclusively.
“This closed season aims to protect the fish, who are spawning during this delicate time to ensure they remain healthy and resilient. This also allows the fish populations to recover."
The spokesperson added: “We have visited a number of sites including SSSI ponds and rivers in our county, checking rod licences, including reporting fishermen for licensing offences.
"Further patrols of our waterways are scheduled throughout the season.”
