A man has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter as searches continued yesterday for a man who fell overboard from a boat into Poole Harbour.
Police have identified the missing man as 24-year-old David Haw. Yesterday, search teams including police divers continued their hunt for him in the waters around Poole.
Search teams were seen at Parkstone Yacht Club throughout the morning, with volunteers from Wessex Rescue also assisting.
The incident in which Mr Haw fell overboard the boat in Poole Harbour in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday, is also being investigated by the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB).
It has been confirmed the RIB which Mr Haw was on board, collided with a navigation buoy in Poole Harbour.
A spokesperson for MAIB said: "We were notified of a tragic accident that occurred in the early hours of Monday morning when a Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) collided with a navigation buoy in Poole Harbour.
“Inspectors have attended the accident site, enquiries are being made and a preliminary assessment of evidence is being undertaken."
Yesterday, Dorset Police confirmed a 19-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter. He remains in police custody. Three people were on board the boat prior to the incident.
