RESIDENTS in Boscombe have been left “disgusted” after waste has built up in an alleyway behind the high street.
Household waste, discarded bin bags and empty cardboard boxes have been left overflowing from bins in the alleyway linking Haviland Road West and Ashley Road.
One resident said: “It is a shame that the rubbish has been left for so long with it being such an immediate health risk as there’s popular cafes and businesses nearby.
“There are children in the flats above that have to walk through it. There needs to be more bins and more regular collection.”
Rami Douba, who lives in the flats next to the rubbish, said: “The bin men do not collect the rubbish often enough.
“Bin men were round this morning but they didn’t take everything.
He added: “It’s not nice at all – especially the smell. I feel for the people who live above the waste."
A BCP Council spokesperson said: “The council is aware of the waste in a private alleyway in Ashley Road. We are working with the homeowners and businesses nearby to ensure the rubbish is cleared up and removed safely.

“We will investigate the waste material to ascertain if those responsible for fly-tipping the waste can be identified and, if so, will take appropriate enforcement action.”
Speaking on the wider issue of fly tipping and waste, Labour councillor for Boscombe East and Pokesdown George Farquhar said: “I am particularly keen on addressing the scourge of fly tipping and graffiti in my own ward since I'm a firm believer that 'like attracts like' when it comes to fly tipping and graffiti.

“I've learned that each case must be objectively approached since each occurrence has different factors such as private property, commercial collection, public health etc.
“That said, I've found the WISE (Waste Investigations Support and Enforcement) has been a very good additional service in tackling fly typing hotspots in the ward I represent. They have been very responsive and worked very well with the residents and businesses for the multiple cases I've reported to them.”
