A POPULAR Italian restaurant in Christchurch will reopen its doors in a new location.
La Mamma, which closed its doors after more than 40 years in October last year, will reopen at a new location just a two-minute walk down the road at The Smugglers Run pub.
Former restaurant owner John Micro will be enjoying his retirement, but the pub’s owner Kenny has confirmed that the same chefs and waiting staff will be returning to the popular restaurant.

In a post to social media, a spokesperson for The Smugglers Run said: “We’re so excited to be able to announce the brand new home for La Mamma's.
“With over 40 years of establishing a business in Christchurch, John and his team have become a staple of the community.
“As John leaves for a well-earned break the La Mammas team have found a new home a stones throw away at The Smugglers Run.

“Keep a close eye out over the next few weeks for developments and pop in for a beer in the meantime while we’re getting everything ready for the big opening…”
La Mamma, which used to be in Bridge Street, Christchurch, closed its doors for the final time on October, 31 last year after 47 years of trading.
News of the popular restaurant’s return was welcomed by excited former customers on social media.
