TWO people have been handed court bills of more than £2,000 for having clams on board their boat below the minimum size.
Reginald Skinner, 60, and of Andrew John Skinner, 30, were alleged to have committed the offence in Poole on September 25, 2021.
The pair were taken to court by Southern Inshore Fisheries & Conservation Authority.
The defendants, both of Middlebere Crescent, Poole, both pleaded guilty to failing to comply with rules relating to sea fishing, which is an offence under the Fisheries Act 1981, at a Poole Magistrates' Court hearing on Wednesday, May 4.
Court papers stated that Andrew Skinner was the owner and master of vessel Lula Bon and he retained on board the vessel a quantity of short-necked clams below the minimum size.
Reginal Skinner was also listed as the owner and retaining the same molluscs.
The two defendants were fined £800 and ordered to pay an £80 surcharge and £1,167 costs.
