A MOTHER says she and her family are still pinching themselves after they were invited on stage by superstar Keith Urban during his concert in Bournemouth.
“Dreams really do come true” according to mother of three Louise McCreanney, whose 12-year-old son Oakley was able to play guitar alongside Australian country musician Keith Urban in front of a packed audience at the BIC on Wednesday, May 4.
Louise and her partner Dave Giles attended the show, part of Urban’s The Speed of Now tour, with Oakley and twin daughters Ebony and Teagan, 10, in what was described as a “phenomenal experience” for the family of five.
“He’s a family hero for sure,” said Louise, who told the Echo she became a huge fan of the singer after first hearing his song The Fighter.
She said: “We saw he was going to playing in London but with five people to sort and having animals at home it was going to be difficult. But when we saw he’d be performing in Bournemouth as well it was a no brainer – we just had to go.”

All five wore a white t-shirt, each with a letter spelling ‘Keith’ and sat in the upper level. After performing two songs, the lights came on over the audience and Urban began interacting with his fans.
Having spotted the family from Somerset standing up with his first name spelt out, the singer asked, “can we get this family down here?”.
Louise recalled: “When we went on stage Keith asked us where we were from, so I said Martock and he obviously had no idea where that was. I was blushing nervous the whole time.”
Near the end of the interaction, Louise asked Keith if he could encourage her son Oakley to keep playing the guitar. After asking Oakley whether he could play, to which the 12-year-old nervously nodded, Urban grabbed his guitar and gave it to the youngster.
The two then sat on the edge of the stage and played Say You Won't Let Go by James Arthur to great applause from the audience.
“You never think you’re going to meet your superstar, but we did and will never ever forget it,” said Louise. “Keith was just incredible, what a lovely man to do that when he didn’t have to.
“For him to be in Bournemouth was amazing and as a family we still can’t come to terms with it – in a good way. I hope he comes back soon, and we’ll definitely wear those shirts again.”
