YOUR photo of Boscombe before the Sovereign Centre was built reminded me of how Boscombe used to be. I wish it had continued.
There were department stores: Plummer Roddis at the Crescent, Butlers in the middle of Boscombe; two cinemas – the Carlton and Savoy, and good quality shops, all of them have now gone since Boscombe was pedestrianised.
Does anyone remember Wuytacks - a high quality family Bakery and restaurant?
They used to have incredible displays in their window especially around Easter time with Easter eggs.
Woolworths and Marks & Spencers also disappeared in the more recent past.
There must be a reason why we have lost them all?
Sorry if I appear to feel that all our yesterdays were better than today, it must be age.
