Police were called to stop a group attempting to force entry to a Poole recreation ground.
Officers from Dorset Police were called at 5.30pm on Wednesday May 18 after reports of a group of people and vehicles attempting to force entry to the Turlin Moor Recreation Ground.
It is believed they had the intention of setting up an unauthorised encampment, a spokesperson for Dorset Police said.
Officers attended and the group left the scene.
The spokesperson added: "It was subsequently reported that there was an unauthorised encampment at the Poole Stadium car park.
"Officers have continued to maintain a presence in the area and are liaising with those present as well as the local authority.
"We will continue to monitor the situation in conjunction with the council to assess whether any further action is required."
In an update on Thursday afternoon, a BCP Council spokesperson said: "BCP Council are aware of the Unauthorised Encampment consisting of 4 living Units and associated vehicles at Serpentine Road in Poole.
"The required assessments have been carried out and the group will be visited regularly."
Elsewhere, two other unauthorised encampments are still located at Christopher Crescent in Poole and Stony Lane in Christchurch.
