AN ARMED forces veteran is set to walk between Bournemouth and Boscombe piers 30 times in a charity event to mark the 40th anniversary of the Falklands War.
David Wood, chief executive of Poole-based Helping Homeless Veterans UK, will be covering 60 miles to demonstrate the distance covered by HM Armed Forces on foot from San Carlos Port Stanley in late May 1982.
The Falklands War ended on June 14, 1982, with 255 service personnel losing their lives.
David, a well-known figure in the armed forces community for his years supporting veterans, will carry out the walk on his own with a support crew.
The event is raising money for Helping Homeless Veterans UK and starts at 9am on Saturday, May 21, from Boscombe Pier.
