Cigarette butt lands Bournemouth woman hefty court bill
A WOMAN will have to pay nearly £350 after throwing a cigarette butt on the ground.
Alexandra Ilescu, 27, of Crescent Road, Bournemouth, was proved to have thrown the cigarette butt on the ground in Portland Terrace in Southampton on February 17.
She was not present at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court for sentencing on Thursday, May 12.
Court papers stated she dropped the cigarette butt in Portland Terrace, a place which section 897 of the environmental protection act applied.
Magistrates fined her £220 for the offence and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34.
She was also ordered to pay costs of £85.
