A DRIVER who left his car unattended on a zig zag in Bournemouth said he was “from Grimsby” as an excuse for his illegal parking.
On Thursday, officers from Dorset Police were patrolling the streets of Charminster when they came across a white BMW X1 left unattended on a zig zag.
The driver appeared from a local establishment with food just as the officers had their ticket book out.
When the driver saw he was about to receive a fine, his reply was: “I’m not from around here, I’m from Grimsby.”
The Highway Code, which is used in the whole of the UK and even Grimsby, states: “You MUST NOT park on a crossing or in the area covered by the zig-zag lines.”
The driver had already garnered nine points on his licence for various offences.
After receiving a further three points and a £100 fine for his parking, the BMW driver is now looking at a minimum six-month disqualification.
