IT was such a lovely day on Sunday that I decided to enjoy a trip on my battery buggy through the beautiful Meyrick Park and down to the new bird aviary.
However, having found the new aviary I was very disappointed that it was extremely difficult to see the birds.
There was a gentleman inside the aviary (accompanied by some very friendly feathered companions perched on his shoulders), explaining about them and generally dealing with the public.
When I mentioned how difficult it was to see the inhabitants because of the two layers of steel mesh, he explained it was necessary for the birds’ protection.
I suggested that brighter lighting inside the aviary would perhaps help.
But although I’m pleased we’ve got an aviary to visit, it is going to be very difficult to enjoy watching the delightful birds unless they get very close to the closer spaced inner mesh screen, which is itself behind the wider spaced outer mesh screen.
