HUNDREDS of hungry residents formed a long queue down Old Christchurch Road in the town centre this afternoon (May 24) whilst waiting for a free tortilla.
Tortilla officially opened its doors to its first Dorset branch at 12pm today to nearly 400 excited people.
The event, which lasted for two hours until 2pm, had a Mexican mariachi trio band playing to the crowd.
Anna Maria, general manager at Tortilla in Bournemouth, said: “This is amazing, it’s so exciting. It’s been a long time coming.
“At Tortilla we’re all about having fresh food, having a nice atmosphere and everyone feeling welcome inside.”
“We already have one in Southampton, and the next one will be opening in Portsmouth.”
One hungry queuer called Katie said: “I can’t wait – who doesn’t love free food?!”
The new restaurant employs 25 people, and customers can build their own tortilla.
All sites of Tortilla are open for dine in, takeaway and delivery.
The new Bournemouth branch will be open between 11am and 9pm most days.
