A MAN has been fined by the courts for throwing down a cigarette butt.
Ross Ingram pleaded guilty to throwing down a cigarette butt in Salisbury on November 17, 2011.
He was not present at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court when he was sentenced on Friday, May 20.
Court papers state the 24-year-old, of Campbell Road, Bournemouth, threw down the cigarette butt in Minster Street, a place to which section 87 of the environmental protection act 1990 applied.
Magistrates fined the defendant £40 for the offence and ordered him to pay a victim surcharge of £34.
He was also ordered to pay costs of £50, meaning he’ll pay a total of £124.
