A MAN in his 70s has avoided an immediate prison term for two sexual assaults.
Dhanjaye Damhar faced two allegations of intentionally touching a woman and the touching was sexual when she did not consent and he did not reasonably believe she was consenting.
Court papers stated that the crimes took place in Bournemouth on August 31 and September 10 last year.
Damhar, aged 71 and of Huntly Road, Bournemouth, pleaded guilty to both offences at a Poole Magistrates’ Court hearing on March 31.
Appearing in the dock at the same court on May 25, the defendant was committed to prison for a total of 36 weeks, suspended for 18 months.
He was ordered to pay a total of £200 compensation and a £156 surcharge and he was placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
