A SERVICE commemorating the 40th anniversary of the end of the Falklands War will be held in Wimborne Minster this month.
The Wimborne branch of the Royal British Legion is holding a service on Tuesday, June 14, at 11am which will be attended by veterans who participated in the conflict as well as civilians who played a significant role supporting the military effort.
Veterans attending are invited to wear their medals and military headdress.
Members of the public are also invited to attend.
After the service there will be a brief wreath laying ceremony on Minster Green by the Mayor of Wimborne, councillor Carol Butter, and representatives of the South Atlantic Medal Association.
The service will commence at 11am and all those wishing to attend should be seated in the Minster by 10.50am.
Following this all those in attendance are invited for refreshments at Wimborne RBL.
The Falklands War was a ten-week conflict between Argentina and the UK which lasted from April 2 to June 14, 1982.
