AN AREA of heathland had to be extinguished after a small fire at a plantation last night.
Having been called at 8.57pm on Tuesday, June 21, Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service sent a crew from Wimborne to a fire at an area of heathland and trees at Uddens Plantation.
The crew extinguished the blaze, which covered approximately 10m by 10m in area, using one hose reel jet.
Their call to stop came at 9.22pm. A fire service spokesperson said the cause of the fire was unclear at this stage.
