WHAT facilities would you like to see added to Bournemouth beach?
That’s the question we asked readers on the Bournemouth Echo’s Facebook page earlier this week.
Hundreds of people replied, and the ideas range from everything to swimming pools to better changing rooms.
Here is just a selection of some of the responses we received.
1. To be able to get my disabled son on the beach in his wheelchair and be able to put his toes in the sea.
2. Disabled access to the sea would be amazing, and stop building on car parks.
3. Make more for families like used to be in Bournemouth not just on the beach make child friendly and make more assessable for disabled you don't need bars on the beach we're not abroad plenty places to drink in Bournemouth without having on the beach.
4. Nicer toilets with shower facilities and a lido would be nice and free parking for locals.
5. A lido / outdoor saltwater swimming pool would be ideal.
6. More & better changing facilities, the Boscombe one is good. A sea water lido, or five. Permanent performance areas. Wider prom in places.
7. I’m not sure if they have one yet but a concrete path that leads straight out into the sea so the disabled in wheelchairs can access the sea direct from the promenade.
8. Better toilet opening hours, disgusting that disabled ones close so early aswell! And a play area on the sand for children.
9. Zip wire across the bay... bouncy things to launch ourselves off into the sea.... waiting folk bringing refreshments instead of standing in queues getting irate.....oh wait! This is England not Europe.
10. Changing rooms and maybe some nicer showers, have a water park or something fun for the kids in where the IMAX used to be. Get rid of the crazy golf, there's about 50 others in town anyway.
11. Disabled friendly boardwalks to the edge of the sea. Make the beach available to all so we can all swim in the sea. I was taught to swim in the sea between the piers. I would love to be able to do that again at 70 years old.
12. A lido for kids and splash park areas etc would be great for mums with little ones.
13. Changing cubicles - would help reduce the queues for the toilets.
14. Lido. I love the sea pool in Bude.... if you ever visit Bude use it.
15. More seating benches along sea front. Few more tables at beach lodge kiosk.and a winch to get me back up the zig zag. Apart from pier area beautiful.
16. Toilets between Toft zig zag path and Harry Ramsdens. The roll out mats for wheelchairs at the end of each path.
17. Large free workout area , like ropes to climb etc.
18. More showering and toilet facilities.
19. A skatepark 20. An inflatable obstacle course 21. Boardwalks for wheelchairs and buggies 22. A cycle lane 23. Basketball courts, workout areas (decent callisthenics areas), rentable loungers would be a big hit 24. Free parking
