THE story in the Echo, June 20, regarding the rejection of clean air zones I found very interesting, especially as Susan Stockwell unsurprisingly takes issue, wanting fewer traffic lanes in Littledown and cycle lanes added in their place.
Now here is a typical example of forcing more traffic into a smaller space, concentrating pollution, the exact opposite of what she wishes.
I am pleased the council are rejecting this nonsense as it is a complete waste of time and energy.
The BCP area is nothing like Portsmouth. Yes, there are areas of congested traffic and higher pollution levels than others, but this is partly down to the new road systems being installed throughout the conurbation – road systems she herself has championed.
No, the BCP area does not need a clean air zone or monitoring. It has nothing like the levels of a city like Portsmouth, our air is already much cleaner without it.
