A NEW buffet restaurant held a VIP opening day yesterday, with guests treated to food from around the world, three robot waiters and even the mayor throwing an egg into his hat.
COSMO launched its latest buffet restaurant in Bournemouth town centre yesterday at St Peter’s Quarter in St Peter’s Road.
Three robot waiters (yes, really) patrolled the restaurant ready to pick up guests' dirty plates – and one, named Bella, can even sing Happy Birthday.
Robot Ketty is on hand to greet customers at the door and the third robot, called Hola, cruises around the restaurant collecting dirty plates.
The guests loved the robots – with one food blogger attending saying it was a “unique and quirky way of pleasing people.”
Delicious food from cultures across the world is available to tuck into, including Chinese World of Asia, Japanese Teppanyaki, Indian House of Spice, Italian Continental, a Tasting Kitchen for family favourites, a Mediterranean Deli and a carvery.

Fifty people are employed at COSMO in part-time and full-time positions and they are still looking for more staff.
Jaqui Rock, president of Bournemouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce attending the opening event, said: “What is interesting is the amount of people that this restaurant is employing in the area.
“We know that most of the high streets have suffered so it’s really great to see so many people here making Bournemouth vibrant – and the food is absolutely amazing; so diverse.”
Bournemouth mayor Cllr Bob Lawton, also present at the night and there to cut the ribbon, said: “I wish COSMO every success – it's just what Bournemouth needs.
“It’s great so many jobs have been created and it’s a real boost to the local economy.”
Cllr Lawton also treated some guests to a hidden talent of his – throwing an egg into a chef’s hat on his head.

Suzanne Wink, head of operations at COSMO UK, said: “We’ve all been waiting for this day to come. The team has put their heart and soul into it.
It’s so great to open a new restaurant after covid and we’re excited to see what the seaside town of Bournemouth brings us.
She added: “The food is great and everybody is having a great evening.”
