A RURAL pub fundraising for Ukrainian farmers - The Langton Arms is Pub of the Week.
Found in Tarrant Monkton near Blandford Forum, The Langton Arms is a farming pub promoting fresh, local produce.
The pub has been run by farmers Barbara and James Cossin for the last 30 years, with the pair continuing to source many of its meat dishes from their own butchery.
Barbara said: “All the beef on the menu is from our family farm, and our pork and our lamb we pick up from a local farmer.
“We love campaigning for local farmers, producers, and food.
“It’s so important especially with all our borders being open because of Brexit, it’s so important that we support British farmers.”
As well as a locally sourced menu, the pub also boasts a warm and friendly atmosphere, and has been described in the past as a "really good example of a great British pub".
Barbara said: “We’re a pub for everybody. We’ve got a playpark, a lovely beer garden, fantastic walks. We’ve welcomed every market.”
The Langton Arms has recently been involved in fundraising efforts to support Ukrainian farmers amid the war.
On Saturday June 11, the pub hosted a live music performance by Dorset band Rock Waves, with a Ploughman’s dinner provided to guests.
Barbara said: “It was great event that was supported by all the locals.
“We had Rock Waves play- the lead singer lives in the village.
“They were brilliant, and it was really lovely that they were supporting us.“
The premises holds annual charity fundraisers, and this year’s event was able to raise an incredible £900 in support of Ukraine and its farmers.
Barbara said: “Normally, we support things more local, but we thought about everything going on in Ukraine.
“It’s quite mind blowing what they’re going through there, with what’s going on the animals, farmers and of course the people, but we were really chuffed that we raised that sort of money.
“It just shows what can be done.”
