DORSET Police have been stopping uninsured drivers and seizing their cars – with one driver storming off in the process.
Dorset Police No Excuses team stopped a silver Ford Focus for having no insurance and seized the car.
A spokesperson for the No Excuses team said: “The driver was issued a fixed penalty but stormed off before they got their copy.”
Elsewhere, a white Nissan Note was also stopped for having no insurance. The driver did provide insurance but found that the policy was cancelled in April.
The spokesperson added: “The vehicle seized and equally unhappy driver received a fixed penalty.”
A white Piaggio motorcycle was stopped for having no tax since 2020 and riding without L-plates.
The Italian bike was seized and the driver was issued with a penalty and reported to the DVLA.
The rider of a KTM motorbike was also suspected of failing to stop when he rode at the police when it came to police’s attention for riding without due care.
The spokesperson added: “He was 'dismounted' and arrested for no Insurance, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, fail to stop, assaulting a PC and theft of the bike.
“The bike was seized and the rider is 'helping us with our enquiries'.”
Lastly, a truck below was stopped because of the pointy metal sticking out. The driver was issued a fixed penalty for driving a vehicle in dangerous condition likely to cause injury.
