A crane overturned and lorry caught fire in separate incidents which closed the A351 at Holton Heath on Sunday.
Drivers were told to avoid the area from early on Sunday morning as emergency services dealt with the incidents.
The road is a key route through Dorset from Poole to Purbeck.
The crane overturned on Wareham Road southbound, with the lorry fire between Blackhill Road and Organford Road.

Residents reported hearing the crane overturn around 7am on Sunday, saying there was a "loud bang".
No injuries were reported and specialist recovery was called to the scene to remove the vehicle.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "The A351 Wareham Road has been closed following an RTC at Holton Heath involving a crane that has overturned.
"The road has been closed at the Bakers Arms roundabout while the vehicle is recovered. No injuries."

Around 9am, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were dealing with a vehicle fire.
A spokesperson for Poole Fire Station said: "The road will be blocked for some time while vehicle recovery takes place. Please avoid the area this morning."
The road was fully open around 1.30pm today.
