FIREFIGHTERS were called to a false alarm at Hengistbury Head which turned out to be multiple barbecues at the Bournemouth beauty spot.
A crew from Christchurch attended the coastal site of scientific interest shortly after 7.30pm.
This came after reports of a fire, which provided to be a false alarm with good intent.
The person who called 999 had in fact seen a number of people having barbecues.
The incident has sparked a renewed warning from the fire service about having barbecues.
Earlier White Watch were mobilized to a small fire at Hengistbury Head, despite all the signs what we discovered was a large number of people having barbecues, barbecues are not permitted on any areas of Hengistbury head including on the beaches. https://t.co/gzaYtwKSFN pic.twitter.com/L0Da0LN8wo

Group manager Dave Waters said: “We would again urge people not to use barbecues or have campfires out in the open, especially during this period of very hot, dry weather.
“They are actually banned in many places, precisely because of the dangers they pose. We have seen so many instances where a fire has taken hold and spread quickly, causing devastation to local wildlife and land. Please, support our summer campaign and #BringAPicnicNotABBQ.”
