LONG delays in Sandbanks are finally coming to an end.

Wessex Water say temporary traffic lights in Shore Road in Poole will be removed tomorrow, on Friday, July 15.

This is ahead of schedule, with Wessex Water previously stating the emergency sewerage repairs will last until “late July”.

Bournemouth Echo:

Wessex Water decided a damaged section of a sewer needed re-lining near Haven Road and now the underground gas mains have been reconnected and resurfacing of the road will finish this week.

Drivers have been left frustrated whilst stuck in long queues of traffic along the road.

Work was initially supposed to take two days in May, but Wessex Water has thanked residents for their patience.

A Wessex Water spokesperson said: “We appreciate this emergency work has coincided with an extremely busy period in Sandbanks and we would like to take this opportunity to thank residents for their patience and cooperation.

“A difficult job has been completed without environmental impact or loss of sewerage services for local people and businesses. We’re sorry for any inconvenience or traffic delays caused by the work, which we’re pleased to have finished ahead of the peak school summer holiday season.”
