COMMUNITY officers have been patrolling Canford Heath to ensure no motorbike use or fires ahead of heavy visitation during the weekend.
Two officers from Poole’s Police Community Support team were patrolling the area on Friday, July 15, and have reminded people of the dangers and rules while at the heathland.
They said: “We would like to urge people to respect our health and woodlands over this hot weather and be considerate to the wildlife too by not having barbecues and fires.
“The devastating effects these can cause to wildlife and heathland should a fire occur can take 20 years to recover fully.”
Also highlighted was a reminder that motorbikes are forbidden to be used on the heath and that should anyone be caught riding one in the area, they will be “dealt with robustly”.
PSCO’s Kerrie and Sam added: “Lastly, we would like to wish you all a lovely weekend and remember to stay hydrated and apply plenty of sunscreen during the hot weather.”
