AN UNAUTHORISED encampment has been set up in the grounds at Upton Country Park by travellers.

BCP Council says it is aware of a reported 11 living units and associated vehicles at the country park and that is it liaising with Dorset Police on how best to respond to the situation.

A council spokesperson said: “Our staff have visited site to carry out the statutory welfare and educational needs assessment, along with any necessary risk assessments in order to determine the level of support to be given to the group.

“We will be visiting, liaising with and monitoring the site going forward.”
