A MAN was taken to hospital after shouts were heard coming from the River Avon in the early hours of Monday morning.
Police received a concern for the welfare of a man in the River Avon in Christchurch at 1.20am.
Officers attended the scene along with the fire service.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “Dorset Police received a report at 1.20am on Monday 18 July 2022 raising concern for the welfare of a man in the River Avon near Salisbury Road in Christchurch.
“Officers attended with the fire service. The man was taken to hospital for treatment 2.15am.”
A Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were called by the police at 1.24am this morning to assist with a search after reports that a man had been heard shouting for help from the river near the Fisherman’s Haunt at Salisbury Road, Christchurch.
“Two crews from Christchurch and the technical rescue team from Poole attended; the casualty was located on the other side of the river and was brought to safety, with the stop at 2.11am.”
