BOURNEMOUTH Echo readers have been voting and the results are in- The Stocks Inn is Pub of the Year.
Found in Wimborne, The Stocks Inn is a charming thatched pub that offers a warm welcome, a friendly atmosphere, and a menu of hearty dishes.
The pub lease was purchased by Cherry and Steve Dyer in 2006, and together with resident managers Drex and Sally Sibley, the team has more than 70 years licensed trade experience between them.
Cherry and Steve’s son, James, works at The Stock Inn as a chef. He said: “The team makes it special. Everyone really pulls together.”
Visitors to The Stocks Inn can choose from an extensive food menu, with dishes freshly made on the premises by the head chef and his team.
They can also be confident that their meals contain the most local produce. Cherry and Steve wrote on their website: “Our aim is to support local farmers wherever possible and to use only the freshest ingredients in all our dishes which have been made on the premises by our Head chef and his team.”
The pub has remained a popular spot within the community, and one loved enough to be branded Bournemouth Echo’s Pub of the Year.
Staff enjoyed a bottle of prosecco and a framed certificate to mark their recent win and thanked their “fantastic” customers for their votes.
A spokesperson for the pub said: “It was an honour to even be nominated for such an award but to win was so exciting. We have all worked extremely hard over the last 16 years to make the whole Stocks inn experience a pleasurable one.
"Thank you so much to all our fantastic customers who voted for us and we look forward to seeing you here again very soon.”
James added: “We’re thrilled to win the award. It’s good to be recognised as there are so many people that have been here for a long time and have put effort in. It’s a nice reflection of everybody’s hard work.”
You can find The Stocks Inn at Furzehill, Wimborne BH21 4HT.
