A MAN from New Milton has been handed a bill of more than £750 for travelling on a train without paying the £103.90 fare.
Liam Hall, 19 and of Norris Gardens, was alleged to have travelled on the Great Western Railway service at Reading on February 4 without having previously paying the required fare with intent to avoid payment.
The offence was proved against him at a Reading Magistrate’ Court hearing on July 15.
The defendant was not present at the hearing when the bench issued a £440 fine as well as orders to pay £103.90 compensation, £44 surcharge and £180 costs.
This gave Hall an overall court bill of £767.90.
