A PURBECK holiday park has been granted permission to swap 21 tent spaces for 14 glamping pitches.
The Sandford Holiday Park at Organford Road, Holton Heath argued that there has been an increasing demand for more up-market stays.
Dorset Council agreed the application from Parkdean Resorts for the replacement Safari-style tents which were not objected to by Wareham St Martin parish council.
A previous application at the site had won consent for the change of 22 tent pitches to 14 glamping sites, directly to the north of the new application at an area of the site known as Area B.
Each glamping pitch will measure 10m x 10m in size, to include one designated parking space to the side of the tent, and will be accessed via an existing access road. Existing dividing hedges will be retained, and gaps infilled. The pitches will be set about 6m apart to meet licence requirements.
The glamping units will be in the form of a safari tent on a timber base with facilities to include a kitchenette, beds, a lounge area, and an outdoor timber deck. Existing shared shower and toilet facilities will be used by the occupiers.
